The Finnish Society for Growth and Ageing Research was founded in 1980 with the idea of promoting premises for good ageing. It aims to increase understanding and knowledge of ageing issues and to further collaboration among professions working with older people. The scientific society is aimed at all researchers and operatives in the gerontological field. The Finnish Society for Growth and Ageing Research has been publishing Gerontologia, multidisciplinary scientific journal, from 1987.
In 2026, the society has approximately 250 members. The chair of the society is Katja Kokko from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland (katja.r.kokko@jyu.fi).
